Week 34

What a week.  That little saying, when it rains it pours, couldn't have been more true in the past week.    This whole water damage issue isn't going away as quickly as I thought it might.  However...the outside is now fixed. Come to find out it wasn't a flower bed issue, it was a builder issue.  Next step is hopefully getting insulation installed along with the pieces of the wall that were torn down.  I think in one of my last posts I was singing praises about the company that was our "one stop shop" but unfortunately I take those comments back.  We are now waiting on a contractor to come by and check out the damage and I'm praying that he can get by this week and get the walls finished.  After the walls and molding are back in place and painted it's on to carpet.  THEN I can get my sweet baby's nursery looking like a nursery (because just in case you didn't know...I have a baby on the way that is coming regardless of a finished or not finished nursery)!  Oh...well, with the exception that we still do not have our dresser.  I NEED the dresser so I can put his clothes in it!  I don't want to hang up every piece of his clothing.  How frustrating that we have waited over 14 weeks on the dresser!!  Another unfortunate situation.  We definitely won't be doing business there again.  Don't get me wrong, I totally understand things happen.  I also consider myself pretty well rounded when it comes to all things business.  Maybe that's why I don't have patience when people, especially businesses, tell me something and then do not follow through!  You'll call me tomorrow and let me know?  Ok great!  I expect to hear from you.  I don't hear from you?  I don't do business with you.  It's pretty simple.  Anyhoo...hopefully everything involved, directly and indirectly, with this tragic water damage will all be over within the next week or two.

Now that I got all that out of the way...Roper is strong!  Roper has a punch.  Roper is making sure I know he is still in there!!  Believe me...I KNOW!!  I went to the doctor last Tuesday and Dr. Turner thinks he may be around 4.5 pounds.  I go back on July 12 and then I go once a week until D day!!  Curt and I are working on packing the hospital bag and getting things all in order...as much as we can...to bring our sweet baby home!!  He is still all about the right side of my belly and you can physically tell!  Curt and I bought a baby doll...I've read that to get your pets ready for the new baby to come home it might help if you use a baby doll and treat it like your real baby.  That way the dogs know that when you have baby in your hand or lap or wherever the dogs will know when and how to stay away.  I love my dogs more than anything, but I don't want them licking all over Roper so they need to know their boundaries so if a scary baby doll helps do the trick then I'm down!!
proud new daddy..hahaha
bonding time??!

Ok...on to the weekly info...Roper, on average, will continue to gain about half a pound a week.  Nowthat his brain has formed billions of neurons, it must accomplish the even more complex feat of hooking the neurons and synapses together. His brain is forming trillions of connections, making it possible for him to learn in the womb. All of this brain development may be the reason that he sleeps frequently at this stage. He may even be dreaming—his eyes dart around rapidly just as an adult's might in REM sleep. His development is in no way complete at birth though. In the first year after birth, a baby's brain triples in size and becomes three-quarters of its adult size.  That's a lot of growing!!
