Week 26: A Busy Week!!

Can I just take a moment for one negative comment?  Just one...I promise...it's not so much a negative comment as it is just a fact!!  It's the beginning of May and the highs outside are already reaching the 90s.  Just saying...that's all.  :)
What a great weekend we had!!  The Color Purple for Lauren's birthday, Gum Tree with friends, Mother's Day, family in town, and a little R&R!  Lauren and I both love the movie The Color Purple.  When I found out that the Broadway musical would be in town I knew I had to get tickets!!  It worked out perfectly that Lauren's birthday is this week so what better birthday gift than tickets to one of our favorite movies?!  We both had a great time and I'm glad I have a friend to enjoy that type of entertainment with!  Saturday Curt, myself, and Brad headed downtown to Gum Tree.  We enjoyed walking around and seeing all the art vendors and we even ran into a few people we don't see very often.  We had dinner with the family Saturday night and then after that a few friends came over to the house.  It's always fun to catch up with our friends that don't live close by!  Sunday my dad cooked for our whole family and we enjoyed a nice Mother's Day cookout at the farm.
On to baby news...Roper is just as active as ever in his temporary home.  This week he has a very busy schedule!!  Tomorrow we have our 3D/4D sonogram and I'm super excited and anxious about that!!  Obviously I will share pictures from that tomorrow night!!  Then on Thursday we have the infamous glucose test!!  Hopefully all goes well and I pass!!  Fingers crossed!  As far as week 26 is concerned...let's see what Roper is up to...
He is measuring about 14 inches long, and he weighs just less than 2 pounds!  His lungs continue to develop and he is taking small breaths of amniotic fluid inside the womb. These small breaths are getting him in shape for his first breath of fresh air.  His veins are visible through his transparent skin but soon that will change as his skin begins to turn opaque.  The nerve pathways are becoming more and more developed, making him more responsive to sound.

"Because they've either conveniently forgotten with time or they're trying to be supportive, most mothers won't tell you how hardpregnancy (and then childbirth) can be. Let me tell you, it is. It's brutal sometimes! But, if I did it, ANYONE can do it. I mean, I always knew I was meant to do something really BIG in life, and now I know that this was it. Screw winning an Academy Award someday ... I GAVE BIRTH!" - Jenny McCarthy
