PEOPLE...WE'RE HAVING A BABY IN ABOUT 15 SHORT WEEKS! JUST SAYIN...
This week we get to grow from a papaya to an eggplant!! Let's just get right into what's going on THIS week!! I've read that if your spouse puts his ear up to your belly he might be able to pick up baby's heartbeat (no stethoscope required). Curt and I haven't tried this just yet but Curt did see my belly move earlier this week!! Inside the womb, the formation of tiny capillaries is giving Roper a healthy pink glow. Roper's also soaking up my antibodies, getting his immune system ready for life outside the womb. Eyes are forming, and he will soon perfect the blink -- perfect for batting those freshly grown lashes. He weighs about a pound and a half now and he's a little over a foot long!!
Right before I found out I was expecting I had a few symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. In the past couple of weeks the symptoms, mostly in my right hand, have gotten noticeably worse!! My mom had suggested that it was probably the pregnancy and then a few of my daily emails suggested the same!! I found out that around week 25, women can develop CTS because the carpal tunnel, a narrow rigid passageway of ligament and bones in the wrist, becomes excessively swollen. This presses on the median nerve, which controls sensations to the palm side of the thumb and fingers and runs from the forearm to the hand. I have been wearing a wrist splint at night to reduce discomfort for a while now but just knowing that this usually subsides about 3 weeks after pregnancy makes me feel a lot better!!
