Week 23

This past weekend Curt and I joined a few friends for a fun concert in Alabama.  I was a little anxious about going but I ended up having a great time and I am so glad we went!!  With that being said, it is always nice to come home, too.  We stopped by our vets office to pick up our 4 legged babies and all of us were excited to be home!!

So I'm 23 weeks pregnant today and I am feeling great...well...other than a little back issue and my feet tiring out on me pretty often!  Doctor visit #5 went very well last week!  I had gained 4 pounds since my last visit making a total of 12 so far!  Funny...I feel like I look like I have gained WAY more than that!  My doctor measured me for the first time.  She said that you want to measure within a couple of inches of where you are weekly...I was 22 weeks and measured in at 22 inches!  Pretty good, huh?  My next appointment is May 12!!  That day I get to take the oh so anticipated sugar test.  EW.  I don't know if I'm dreading that just because of everything I have heard about it or because I have to sit there for an hour by myself!!  Anyhoo...here's what happening this week!!  The blood vessels in his lungs, important for breathing outside the womb, are developing.  His lips are becoming more distinct (please no "WHAT IT DO" lips) and his eyes continue to develop, though they still lack color. Also, this week, the bones in his middle ear start to harden.  His skin is still wrinkled but the pigments that will give his skin color are currently being deposited.  Maybe he'll be nice and tan like his Uncle Tristam!!  With 23 weeks behind us that means there are only about 17 more weeks to go!!  That seems so long but at the same time, with all that I feel that needs to be done, that doesn't seem like long enough!  We have started painting Roper's nursery.  Color one is up and finished.  Now for the stripes!  Our thought is if we can do just a little at a time we won't get burned out and we'll stay excited about painting and the the outcome of our painting skills!  While we patiently paint, we are also patiently waiting on a few things we have ordered.  A pantry to start with.  Don't get me started on that.  It should be here and installed THIS week.  Just like it should have been here and installed 5 weeks after we ordered it!  Oh, by the way...that was back in January.  Baby furniture and baby bedding are the other two things we are waiting on!  I can't wait to get his room all put together and see the finished product!!  

Every morning while I'm getting ready for work I go back and forth from the Today Show to whatever is on Bravo.  This past Thursday while I was getting ready for work I was listening to the Today Show.    They did a segment on pregnancy and if woman today share too much information.  Mariah Carey had tweeted a picture of her growing belly with a butterfly painted on it.  Obviously this caught my attention!  I have sometimes thought, Ok Lindsey, don't share that with the www.  But I have really enjoyed writing about my pregnancy and keeping those who want to know up to date with all the happenings of our little family.  What do you think though?  Do you think pregnant women in general share too much information?  You can click here and read the article for yourself.  I'm curious to know what YOU think!!
